Q.4. What is the Teacher-Student ratio in the school?

We try to maintain a ratio of 1:15 in the classroom in pre-primary sections. As the child ranks up in the rungs of grades, he needs a bigger group of peers to interact with and socialise with. Also, the child becomes more independent and doesn’t need a constant check and hand holding.

Q.5. Does the school offer after-school activities?

Yes. The school has an after-school-enrichment program for kids including day care and other scheduled activities in the evening. The day care facility is extended upto 7 pm, which includes stipulated food, napping and snack/meal time for children. The evening programs include activities in Sports Club and , Young Readers’ Club as well.

Ans: We give preference to siblings of students already in the school in that siblings automatically move to the top of their respective category in the waiting list.

Ans: The Gyaananda School has introduced organic meals for the hot lunch programme. All meals are prepared fresh on site and use locally produced, seasonal and flavorful products. We are committed to providing a balanced and wholesome diet to our students and recognize the high nutritional value freshly prepared, organic food can provide.

Q.18 Does the school provide transport for all students?

Ans. The school has an efficient transport system in place for students who opt to avail this facility. The school has extensive transport coverage. Gyaananda aims to provide high quality, safe and secure transportation service for the students.

  • All the buses are fitted with GPS and cameras. The buses while on routes are monitored regularly.
  • Parents can also excess the GPS of buses while the buses on routes.

Ans. There are no additional charges for participation in co-curricular sports activities. However, if the student enrolls for an evening sports academy program than the parents have to pay the regular charges.

Ans. Yes, excursions and educational trips are a part of the active learning process at GS. Such trips are organised on a regular basis, as indicated on the school calendar.

Ans. The school has a strong house system where most of the activities are organised at multiple levels. The initial levels are organised in a manner that provides the opportunity to all the students to participate while in subsequent levels, students selected on the basis of their performance in the initial levels participate, representing their classes/ house/ school.

Ans. No homework for students. Extra practice (EP) is an integral part of teaching and serves to further reinforce what has been taught in class. However, EP will be minimal and not stressful. There is a comprehensive EP Policy in place. For Grades I to VII, EP is given for only two subjects of which one is be done in school while the other is to be done at home.

Q.27. In case of a medical emergency, how will the school take care of my child?

Ans. In keeping with international standards, an in-house medical nurse is present at all times during school hours in order to attend to minor injuries and medical emergencies. The school has a tie-up with nearby hospital and parents will be informed simultaneously in case of emergencies.

Ans. We follow the Montessori Method of education combined with Gardner’s Multi-Intelligence Theory. It is an educational methodology that is logical, is based on respect for a child’s natural psychological development as well as technological advancement. The characteristic of Montessori education is carried forward in the formal school by adding on other best practices like Waldorf, Reggio Emelia Curriculum, Play Way, Jodo Gyan, Abacus, and Jolly Phonics.

Q.1. What method do you follow to teach the Children?

Ans. Activity based method as per the child’s age and the environment is used to teach them. Our entire focus is on the child and all the activities go around him/ her. These activities are not only to clarify the concepts but also to meet the various needs of the child such as refinement of senses, motor development & the development of Art & Dance at the same time.

Q.2. Is your school a child-centered, a teacher-centered, a curriculum-centered or a parent-centered school?

Q.3. Can we stay to get my child settled when dropping them off?

Ans. For some children, this is the first separation from their parents. We understand that this is often a difficult experience for the youngsters. It is important to let your child know you are leaving but will come back for them after school. For the first few days, you may want to stay 5 to 10 min in the car. We will be glad to check on your child’s progress.
